Mayor Jane Castor and Chief Mary O’Connor, along with the Tampa Police Memorial Committee, will pay tribute to all fallen officers and their family members on Monday May 9th at 7:00 PM, in front of the Monument to Fallen Officers at One Police Center. The ceremony will include a 21-Gun Salute, Riderless Horse, Bagpipes, Taps, and a Flyover by the Tampa Police Aviation Unit. The public is invited to join the men and women of the Tampa Police Department as we honor our thirty-two fallen officers, and those across the nation, who lost their lives in the performance of their duties.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, since the first known line-of-duty death in 1786, more than 22,000 U.S. law enforcement officers have made the ultimate sacrifice. This includes the thirty-two officers from the Tampa Police Department we will honor at our Memorial Ceremony.
