16th Annual Tampa Police Memorial Run

5K/1 Mile Run/Walk

was a smashing success.  The event took place on Saturday, 10/09/10, at Lykes Gas Light Park.  Held in cooperation with the City of Tampa and the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, approximately 2,673 runners competed in the 5K and 1 mile Run/Walk events.  Thanks to everyone who participated.  Here are the winners:

Kari Grippo – 1st Place Female Overall (17:55.93) 14 Years Old
Mickey Hooke – 1st Place Male Over 40
Cami Piche – 1st Place Female Over 40
Rick Serra – 1st Place Male Sworn Law Enforcement (19:25.74)
Tanya Manning – 1st Place Female Sworn Law Enforcement (22:03.67)
Jesse Horn – 2nd Place Male Sworn Law Enforcement (20:13.20)
Jessica Wright – 2nd Place Female Sworn Law Enforcement (24:48.30)
Christopher Purnell – 3rd Place Male Sworn Law Enforcement (21:10.79)
Sarah Deutschmann – 3rd Place Female Sworn Law Enforcement (25:24.86)

Officers Jesse Horn and Tanya Manning were the first Tampa Police Officers to cross the finish line in honor of the department’s 31 fallen officers. Horn placed 2nd in the male law enforcement category. Manning came in 1st for the females.
